Resignation of BHN Chief Executive Officer

Statement from BHN Board Chairperson, Kirstan Corben

I would like to advise of the resignation of BHN’s Chief Executive Officer, Damian Ferrie.

Damian’s extensive career in the Community Sector extends across both the Victorian and New South Wales public sectors of community services and housing, where he held senior executive roles.

Prior to commencing in the role of Chief Executive at BHN, Damian was the Chief Executive at Star Health for over a decade. During his tenure, he led the evolution of Star Health to a highly regarded and effective organisation, focused on the engagement and support of vulnerable members of the community.

His passion and commitment to social justice and support for disadvantaged communities was evident through the leadership he provided during the amalgamation process that led to the establishment of BHN.

Damian’s commitment and leadership of social justice reform has also extended to his roles as Board Chair, Mental Health Victoria, and President of the Victorian Council of Social Services.

Damian’s leadership of our dedicated workforce and commitment to effective partnerships and stakeholder relationships, have created a solid foundation for BHN to grow and develop, whilst continuing to provide quality and accessible services for our communities.

BHN aims to build on this legacy through delivery of our inaugural Strategic Plan and continued open and transparent relationships with our consumers, community organisations and stakeholders.

Please join me as we extend our very best wishes to Damian for the future. A farewell event is being planned and details will be advised.

I would like to thank Amanda Murphy for kindly agreeing to act as Chief Executive Officer, whilst the Board commences the process of recruitment to the role.

The Board is looking forward to supporting Amanda, the executive team and broader organisation during this period of transition.

Ms Kirstan Corben
Board Chair
