BHN Statement on the Voice Referendum
Better Health Network is supportive of giving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people a voice to Parliament. While we recognise that some members of our community may hold different views, we are proud to release the following statement that aligns with our commitment to health equity and our vision of health and wellbeing for all people and communities.
BHN Statement on the Voice Referendum
BHN Better Health Network affirms our support for a constitutionally enshrined Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament. The recognition and representation this will afford Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples holds the potential to positively address entrenched health inequities, and strongly aligns with our vision of health and wellbeing for all people and communities.
We acknowledge the deep connection between health and equality and remain committed to supporting and advocating for communities to actively participate in decision making processes which impact their lives. We encourage individuals to make informed, and independent decisions and recognise that members of our community may hold different views. While these conversations take place, we will continue to partner with first nations peoples and prioritise their cultural safety in our service and the community health sector.
