GP Clinic

BHN is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing primary health care services in the local community for over 40 years. Experience and compassion are at the core of our holistic approach to health care. All are welcome to visit the GP Clinic, which is an accredited General Practice medical service. The doctors and nurses on our team are experienced professionals. Our clinics are fully equipped, bright and clean, so you receive high-quality medical care in a comfortable and safe environment.

Services 

At the GP clinic we support:

  • Babies, children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and older people
  • Preventative care such as blood pressure checks, immunisations and screening programs
  • Illnesses and minor injuries requiring acute medical care
  • The management of chronic diseases (such as asthma, diabetes, and arthritis) including care plans
  • Support for mental health
  • Medical referrals to specialists
  • Addiction medicine service

Additionally, we offer the following special services:

  • Women’s health – sexual health care, family planning, contraception including Implanon (implant) and IUD (intra-uterine device) insertion, cervical screening tests (pap smears),  pregnancy care including shared antenatal care with public hospitals, perinatal care before and after birth, and menopause support
  • Men’s health – including mental health, cardiovascular and sexual health care, and cancer screening for all ages 
  • If you are planning to travel overseas, our travel clinic can provide comprehensive travel advice, medications, and vaccinations. Yellow Fever vaccinations are available at our center

As a mixed billing practice, our fees are determined by complexity and time, according to the recommended rates for general practice.

Exceptions apply for:

  • Health Care Card Holders and Pensioners
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
  • Veterans Affairs Card Holders
  • Students and children under 16 years of age
  • Eligible asylum seekers and refugees
  • Some patients at the doctor’s discretion
  • Clients experiencing homelessness

At each visit, all appropriate cards must be sighted and validated. Bulk billing cannot be done if these cards aren’t available.

Bulk billing means the doctor accepts the Medicare benefit as full payment for the services provided, and bills Medicare directly. As a result, you will not have any out-of-pocket expenses.
